Statement of Condolence
On Monday afternoon, November 10, while returning from an official visit in Nasiriyah, a vehicle driven by officials from a Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) accidentally struck a child who had run into the middle of the road. The victim was transported to a U.S. military hospital, but died en route. A team from the U.S. Embassy is in Nasiriyah to investigate the incident, in coordination with Iraqi officials.
The U.S. Embassy regrets this tragic accident and has offered its condolences and payment to the family of the victim.
